During the ongoing voting for the Panchayat Elections in West Bengal, clashes and incidents of violence have erupted in various areas. In Bhangar, allegations have emerged that an ISF candidate was carrying a bag with a bomb, resulting in a confrontation between ISF and TMC supporters. Simultaneously, ISF candidates have complained that their agents are being denied entry to the polling booths, intensifying the dispute.
Violence in Bhangar A complaint has been registered against ISF candidate Regina Bibi, accusing her of carrying a bomb in her bag. This led to a heated argument and physical confrontation between supporters of both parties right outside a polling booth.
Regarding the incident, Regina Bibi stated, "I showed my bag to everyone; I did not keep any bomb. They are doing this to snatch my nomination paper." Meanwhile, TMC supporters have alleged that they were attacked by ISF members, refuting ISF's claims.
Complaints and Booth Irregularities Additionally, there are complaints that the Headmaster of the Chandpur Gram Panchayat High School in Chapagachhi, who is a presiding officer, is absent from the booth. Only an armed police officer is present, with no Central forces personnel visible.
Meanwhile, in Kuchbihar, the murder of a TMC booth president has caused a stir in the area. Ganesh Sarkar (50), who served as the president of booth number 9/64 in Ramapur, Block-2, Tufanganj, was found dead. Ganesh was also the local unit president of the Toto local organization. Abhijit De Bhattacharya, the TMC district president, posted on Facebook, alleging that Ganesh Sarkar's murder was committed by BJP miscreants, and Bimal Das was injured. However, BJP has denied the allegations.
Violence and Allegations in Dinhat Incidents of violence unfolded in Dinhat just before the voting process. Accusations have been made against TMC for attacking independent candidates. Bimal Hak, a candidate, and Bholanath Burman, an independent candidate from booth number 255 in Puntimari-1 Gram Panchayat, were allegedly shot at by TMC.
Folimari Gram Panchayat in Kuchbihar witnessed a heated atmosphere during polling. Madhav Biswas, a polling agent for the BJP, has been accused of shooting and killing a Congress candidate, Mayur Barman.
According to sources, Madhav Vishwas, a local politician from Kuchbihar, was stopped by TMC Congress while trying to enter the polling booth. As tensions escalated, he was shot. One BJP candidate was also injured in the incident. BJP candidate Maya Barman Sarkar stated that the problem primarily arose from irregularities in conducting early voting with agents at booth number 38 in Folimari.
